While Minions: The Rise of Gru still can't quite justify itself, it offers a much more sincere and fun exit than its predecessor. Whether it is worth the wait will ultimately be determined by the audience it was made for, but it is certain that this is a sequel that surpasses the original. The delays of the pandemic have pushed Gru's Rise back considerably, and now it has finally arrived. Released in 2015, Minion was an unexpected box office success, becoming the second-highest-grossing animated film of all time. Now, 12 years later, Gru has something of an origin story in that of director Kyle Balda Minions: The Rise of Gru also serves as a sequel to the first Detestable Me prequel. In 2010, a franchise was born when the so-called supervillain Gru (Steve Carell) immersed himself in authorship with Illumination's Detestable Me. While Minions: The Rise of Gru can't quite justify itself yet, it provides a much more sincere and fun output than the previous film.
